Calling all hill climbers!
The BC 14.16 STS is the perfect computer for attacking the hills. Enhanced altitude measuring functions include an altitude profile graph and current gradient.
Using NFC technology and the free SIGMA LINK app, the BC14.16 STS can communicate with Android smartphones to program and download ride data.

Gradient
Not all of us live in the mountains, but there is always that one hill that gets you every time. In addition to the classic altitude functions, the BC 14.16 STS shows an altitude profile graph and percent gradient (slope).

Over 14 functions
The more than 14 functions of the BC 14.16 STS are clearly and partly graphically displayed on the large dot matrix display screen. In addition to the classic bike functions, the BC 14.16 STS has six altitude features and in the STS CAD variant, two cadence functions.

High-percentage
In addition to the classic altimeter functions, the BC 14.16 STS also shows the altitude profile and the ascent percentages.

NFC & SIGMA LINK
The BC 14.16, BC 16.16 and BC 23.16 models can communicate directly with an Android smartphone via NFC (near field communication). To do so, you must install the free SIGMA LINK app. For wireless data exchange, simply hold your smartphone up to the computer. The app can be used to change settings and read trip data.
The data can be transferred from the smartphone into the DATA CENTER via the SIGMA CLOUD. Conversely, it is also possible to transfer data from the DATA CENTER onto the smartphone via the CLOUD.
The free SIGMA LINK app is available in the app store and Google Play store. The NFC technology is only available for Android smartphones.

Temperature display
All models from the BC 14.16/STS/CAD to the BC 23.16 have a temperature indicator. This shows the current temperature of your environment at all times.

Trip section timer
Due to the integrated trip section timer, partial sections of an overall trip can be separately entered manually. Thus, the evaluation of a partial section or interval workout is made possible, without affecting the total values of the trip.

Adjustable wheel sizes
Got more than one bike? Two wheel sizes can be programmed into the BC14.16 to separate ride data. The STS wireless versions automatically switch between bike 1 or bike 2 based on the transmitter signal.

Predefined tire sizes
Setting the wheel size is extremely easy using the tire size. From 16 inches to 700C to 29 inches, the wheel size can be set easily using predefined tire sizes. Of course, it is also possible to manually enter the wheel size in millimetres.

Speed comparison
The BC14.16 STS continuously compares current and average speed. When there is a difference, the result is indicated by an upward or downward arrow.

Workout statistics for 12 months
In addition to total values, the BC14.16 STS keeps track of statistics for the last twelve months. The “workout diary” helps compare and analyze monthly activities.

Integrated storage chip
Thanks to an integrated memory chip in the computer head unit, all the total values and settings are permanently stored in the device. After changing the battery, you therefore only need to reset the time.

Computer/transmitter battery warning
All devices from BC 14.16 upward come with a battery status indicator. The power status of the battery in the computer head unit or STS transmitter is checked at regular intervals. If the battery is low, an early warning is displayed on the computer head unit.

Bike service reminder
Thanks to the service interval, your bike mechanic can set a service reminder based on the number of kilometers/miles that your ride, making sure that your bike is tuned and ready for each ride.
The service interval is set using the UNIVERSAL FAST SETTING BOX. When service is due, a bike service icon will appear on your screen at the start of a ride. Simply press any button to dismiss the reminder until a later date.

Maximum display, minimum size
The new sleek, vertically orientated TOPLINE 2016 computers will look great on your stem or handlebar. We’ve maximized the display size and slimmed down the computer housing to show the largest, easiest to read numbers, letters, and images possible.

Housing

Animated menu navigation
Full text and images clearly identify the different setting menus in the BC14.16 STS. In addition, a scroll bar below the image indicates where you are within each menu.
Images are also used within during ride such as the altitude profile graph.

Digitally encoded three-channel wireless transmission
The tried-and-tested SIGMA TRANSMISSION SYSTEM (STS) is the digitally encoded transmission system for all transmitter data from the speed transmitter, the cadence transmitter, and even the heart rate transmitters for the high-quality basic devices and top models. The transmitters collate the data they have received and send this to the receiver integrated into the computer as a data package. The transmitters also regularly send stored test data for data comparison purposes.
The digital encoding of the SIGMA TRANSMISSION SYSTEM prevents transmitter data from being corrupted by external interferences such as power sources or other transmitters. The interference of Sigma products, e.g. LED lights, can also be prevented.

New STS transmitter
The STS‐speed and cadence transmitters now pivot to easily align with the magnets. The battery compartment of the STS‐speed transmitter is located on the outside of the transmitter, making it possible to change the battery while mounted.
When using the cadence transmitter, you get both the current and average cadence measurement.

Backlight
Or as we like to call it, a smart backlight. Press the Alti button and the Menu button at the same time to activate the backlight. Once activated, each time you press a button, the backlight will illuminate. When the computer goes into sleep mode, the backlight automatically deactivates.

Watertight
The BC 14.16 STS is waterproof according to the international standard IPX 8. This means there is "protection against permanent immersion". Nothing stands in the way during the next ride in the rain.

Click-magnets
Two new spoke magnets (standard and power) are equipped with a one‐piece click‐mount clamp. Installation is easier than ever. Magnets can be installed and removed without tools.

Cadence magnet
The new cadence magnet can be attached directly to the pedal spindle without additional aids. Since it is very thin, the risk of making contact with the transmitter is low, even in tight spaces. In the event of a large gap between the crank and the transmitter, or when used with non‐magnetic pedal axles, two plastic magnet holders are included.

In the box:

  • Power magnet
  • ATS / STS handlebar bracket
  • STS speed transmitter
  • STS canece transmitter kit
  • 2 O-RINGS (Ø 35mm, 45mm)

Why write another review? There are already so many for this book.
Format: Kindle
It shouldn't surprise me that books that I like, by authors that I love, are extremely popular and well reviewed. This is the case with " . We might just as well ask, "Why write another book on prayer? The world is full of them." I could forego the review entirely, but I just can't do that because I love Annie (the author) so much and I cannot pass up the opportunity to say how much I appreciate her life and her work. While this isn't my favorite "Anne Lamott" book, it is certainly worth reading, if for no other reason than the entertainment value. Her words are so skillfully crafted and lyrical that it causes joy to spring up in my soul. This book will provide some insight into prayer for everyone; from the practiced, long-time prayer practitioner to the novice; from believer to agnostic. You will discover aspects of prayer that you had not appreciated before. This is not a technical treatise on prayer, but it did encourage me to pray and to be more faithful in prayer... to be more "in the moment" and to recognize the beauty that is everywhere around us. The day this came out I bought two copies, one for Kindle (which was formatted well and flowed smoothly) and the audio version (which I will listen to the next time through). I have several of Anne's other books in the audio version and I can say it is a real treat when she reads the books herself. Do not hesitate to buy this (or any other) book by Anne Lamott. You will be happily rewarded in the reading.

Understand your loss. Celebrate your gain. Live!
Format: Kindle
A quick look at what makes us human; our principal line of relationship to the Cosmos. Maybe not always reverent, but always livable and believable. This is a book, a primer, on how to deal with the mess of life. Written with enough seriousness and tongue-in-cheek humor to be readable and thought provoking.

An Invitation into the Heart of Reality
Format: Kindle
I love reading Anne Lamott. She helps me feel that it’s okay to be human. She helps me see that prayer is human. It’s the most natural thing you can do. And, really, everybody does it, whether they know it or not. In this delightful book, Ms. Lamott reflects on what she calls three essential prayers: help, thanks, and wow! Such human expressions! She invites us, the readers, into her perspective on life, infused as it is with both the mundane and the mysterious. There are times when it is even threatening. But we are not alone. We have each other, and we have God. (Or, better, God has us.). I don’t know that Ms. Lamott would want to be called an optimist, but she certainly sees the good in the bad (or, maybe after the bad). Life is both, she seems to say, but all is okay. So we ask for help when we’re wise enough (or desperate enough) to do so—both for ourselves and others. And we say thanks because life is full of reasons to be grateful. And there is so much beauty around us—and tragedy too—that we cannot help but erupt with wow! I urge you to read this book. Perhaps, as you read it, you will feel as I did reading it, that you are in a conversation with someone very wise and very compassionate and very real.

Another Thanks and Wow by Anne Lamott!
Format: Hardcover
I was first introduced to Anne Lamott's writing about 25 years ago when I read her book, Bird by Bird. It was a book about how to write and from that moment she became one of my favorite authors. Help, Thanks, Wow is a wonderful book that I have underlined and reread over and over again. Her writing has a voice that many of us can relate to. It's honest and you can feel her pain. She writes with humor to balance the good with the bad. Something that is so important to learn as we go through life. Her descriptions help you see, feel, and smell when she describes "autumn...the colors are broccoli and flame and fox fur. The tang is apples. The rot smells faintly of grapes..." She tells us how to ask for help when you can't do it all by yourself, but how important it is to say thank you, thank you, thank you and Wow for all the things you are grateful for. I loved when she wrote about how service to others is joy ,but how important it is to be kind to yourself. One of my favorite passages was this one, "This morning at six when I awoke, loneliness was sitting on my chest like a dental X-ray apron, even though I was buried in hairy dog love. Help, I am sad and lonely, and already it looks like today is going to be too long. I prayed...I did a kindness to myself, as I would have a troubled friend..." Her descriptions are all like this one and easy to relate to. I loved this book and have given it to friends who have then bought it for other friends. It is definitely a WOW!!!!

Not bad, but not my cup of tea
Format: Hardcover
After seeing Anne Lamott on TV, I was impressed with her and checked out this book on Amazon. The reviews were good, so I ordered it. I was a bit disappointed on receiving it, as I didn't like the shape of the book (too small) and I didn't like the type style (too hard to read). Then, I struggled to get into the book. I like to highlight insights in inspirational books, and I simply didn't find anything to highlight in this one. I think Anne Lamott is a lovely person and I understand how a lot of people liked this book. However, it just didn't bring any new insights to the table for me and it wasn't written in a way that I found compelling. The good news is, it wasn't too hard to finish, since it is short. I passed it on to someone I hope will enjoy it.
